Lyneham Motor Inn

School Group Accommodation

We understand that a good night's sleep is vital to the success of a school excursion. Not only are students happier when they are well rested, but they are able to learn more and participate in organised activities.

Rooms

Our rooms are designed for school groups, students are slept in full size beds, and each room has study tables and ensuite bathrooms.

Students are slept in single sex rooms, with same sex rooms being grouped together.

Heating / Cooling

All rooms are equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning. This has been pre-set to the current season

Safety

The complex is built of solid brick and has smoke detectors fitted to all rooms.

Keys

We suggest a "Key Captain" be appointed for each room. This person is then responsible for the key, avoiding confusion and lockouts.

Teachers are advised to collect keys from students at lights out each evening. This grants teachers access to all students rooms overnight.

Reception holds spare keys for each room.

Correspondence between Children and Parents

We understand the importance of correspondence between children and parents, particularly on long trips and for children who are unfamiliar with travelling without their parents.

We aim to provide a variety of communication options for children and parents.

In our experience Fax & Email are the easiest and most efficient forms and provide the most excitement & enjoyment for the children.

Fax

Parents who wish to fax their children may do so using the attached fax sheet. Please ensure that the child's name and school are clearly stated on the fax. These will be handed out to children at breakfast and dinner.

Email

As with Faxes, emails are handed out to children at breakfast and dinner. Please state the student's name and school in the body of the email, with the subject as the Student's name and School. The email address is clmi@bigpond.net.au

Telephones

Telephones have been turned off in all student rooms and students cannot receive calls.

Phones are available in all Supervisors Rooms. The use of these phones by students, and the length and frequency of phone calls are at the discretion of Teachers and Group Coordinators. All calls must be paid for immediately after they are made.

Mail

We post letters and postcards on a daily basis. We also provide children with stamps at a cost of 50c per stamp.

Due to the nature of post, we suggest that parents don't send letters to their children but use the alternate methods of communication.

Packing Guide

As Canberra has a varying climate, which can change rapidly, we suggest that you pack a variety of seasonal clothing, particularly warm clothing such as jackets and tracksuits for winter and cooler nights. Sunhats are recommended, as are rainjackets.
