We also have a set of guidelines to ensure your school group remains safe and has an enjoyable experience.

2. Payment is required in full on or before your group's arrival. Check in will not commence until payment has been made.

3. Meal Service Policy
The Canberra Lyneham Motor Inn can provide three meals a day for Educational Tours (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner), however these meals are NOT a compulsory part of the accommodation package.

We will provide a Set Menu for each meal during the week, and make available a copy of our Menu with all known ingredients listed.

We are not allowed to make changes to our Menu to cater for Medical Conditions, as we do not have qualified Medical Practitioners on our staff.

We can not add items to our menu for any reason.

All meals are served from a Buffet, so individuals can request that we do not put something on their plate.

4. As stated in the Department of Education Policy for School Excursions - "The Department's duty of care owed to students for the duration of an excursion cannot be delegated from the school to parents, caregivers, volunteers or employees of external organisations." As such we are not allowed to make any decisions for you regarding how you cater for the people who do not want to eat from our menu, however we have made the following changes to our Motel that may be of assistance to you.

" We can send out a copy of our Set Menu, with all known ingredients listed.

" When we ask for final numbers we will also ask how many people we will be catering for during each meal of your stay.

" If we are not catering for a child or adult, the catering costs for each meal not catered for will be deducted from the final account.

" Each group will have at least one Supervisors Room that is supplied with a fridge / freezer and microwave.

" We can inform you that there is a Woolworths Supermarket within walking distance of the Motel that is open from 7am to 12 midnight 7 days a week.

" We can inform you that there are approximately 90 restaurants, fast food outlets and cafes within 1 kilometre of the Canberra Lyneham Motor Inn.

" People not eating from our menu may still sit with their group, if so decided by their supervisor, to consume their own meal.

5. The Canberra Lyneham Motor Inn is a large property that accommodates a number of diverse customers, including school groups, senior citizen groups, corporate customers, and elite Olympic athletes training through the Australian Institute of Sport. Therefore we require the students to behave in a quiet and orderly manner whilst on the Motel Premises

6. The main cause of accidents on school excursions resulting in injury and broken limbs is caused by children "Trampolining" or jumping on beds.
Therefore this practice is totally forbidden.
Any children detected either by our security, or staff members of this practice will be reported to your senior person and we would expect strict disciplinary action to be taken.

7. Due to our Public Liability Insurance Limitations, and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, the playing of Ball Games is not permitted in our Car Park. We have three large public playing fields adjoining our Motel, all Ball Games are to be played on these fields. These fields are open to the Public, and do not need to be pre-booked Anyone playing Ball Games on Motel premises is not covered by our Public Liability Insurance.

8. As part of this accommodation package a certain number of your supervisors are accommodated, and provided with all meals free of charge at our accommodation venue.
We do this because they are your group's supervisors, and as such we require them to supervise, and discipline (if necessary) the students at all times while the students are on the Motel premises.

9. As per the Duty of Care Statement issued by the Department of Education, adults with school students in their care are not to consume alcohol whilst on a school excursion. We therefore can not tolerate alcohol consumption on the Motel Premises or grounds by any member of a school group. We have been asked by the Department of Education to inform them of any breach to this, as it is becoming a nationwide problem, and as well as being against your Duty of Care Statement, it is also against Departmental Policy.
